Matthew Adams has been organising decorative events in London since 1989 when he held The Little Decorative Antiques Fair at the Hampstead Town Hall. In 1997 he held the first of many of his hugely popular Brocante fairs in Kensington and at various other venues around London including Olympia and the Chelsea Town Hall. The Brocante brought together decorative antiques, textiles, old garden tools, statues, fairground art and a host of weird and wonderful items that never really fitted into any definable category. As the name of the event would suggest, quite a lot of the items for sale were sourced from France, either by French dealers living there or by British dealers with very strong Francophile leanings. In 2005 Matthew introduced an element of contemporary design to his event and re-branded it as The Brocante & Decorative Living Show. Carefully curated, it provided a showcase for inspirational modern design as well as the older, often quirky ‘antique’ offerings.
After a hiatus during which Matthew focused on his other events, antiques and vintage fashion fairs, he is bringing back his popular Brocante & Decorative Living Show to the Chelsea Old Town Hall. The next event will be on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th November 2018.
